Free Crochet Candy Corn Pattern: Fun and Easy!

Crochet Candy Corn

Materials Needed:

3 mm crochet hook (These Tulip hooks are the BEST crochet hooks I’ve ever used!)
Worsted weight (#4) yarn in the following colors:
- Red Heart Super Saver Economy Yarn in Aran
- For the orange, I used a Yarn Bee Rustic Romantic color from Hobby Lobby, but it doesn’t look like they carry this anymore. For a similar look, I recommend this Lion Brand Jeans yarn in the color Top Stitch (Any orange will work, but I LOVE the tweed/flecked style yarns.).
- Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted Weight Yarn in Butter
Button (I like to have a variety of sizes so I can choose which one fits my amigurumi the best! I recommend something like this.)
Safety eye
Sewing needle
Black embroidery thread
Yarn needle
Stitch marker
Polyester fiberfill
Scissors

With a 3 mm hook and worsted weight (#4) yarn in cream:
1. MR 6	(6)
2. 1 sc, inc x 3	(9)
3. 2 sc, inc x 3	(12)
4. 3 sc, inc x 3	(15)
5. 4 sc, inc x 3 *Switch to orange	(18)
6. 5 sc, inc x 3	(21)
7. 6 sc, inc x 3	(24)
8. 7 sc, inc x 3	(27)
9. 8 sc, inc x 3	(30)
10. 9 sc, inc x 3	(33)
11. 10 sc, inc x 3 *Switch to yellow	(36)
12-15. Sc around	(36)
16. BLO: Sc around	(36)
17. 4 sc, dec x 6 *Insert safety eye between Rnds 8-9. Place it to the left or right of center (depending on which side you want your safety eye on).	(30)
18. 3 sc, dec x 6 *Start stuffing. Continue stuffing as you close.	(24)

*FO, leaving a long tail. With a yarn needle, pass the tail through each of the remaining 6 sts. Pull tight to close. Weave in end.

Candy Corn Poppet Fun Fact:

Old stitch witches believed Candy Corn Poppets were woven during the final harvest moon to preserve a little autumn magic for the coming winter. Keeping one nearby is said to invite cozy evenings, warm drinks, and a season filled with handmade memories.

Finishing Touches

1. Sew a button approximately 4 stitches apart from the safety eye.

2. With black embroidery thread and a sewing needle, embroider a crooked stitched smile across his face.

And that’s it! Your cute little spooky candy corn is complete!

Plushy Version

This candy corn also makes an adorable plushy verison!

To make the plushy version, follow the above instructions but make the following changes:

* Instead of worsted weight yarn, use super bulky (size 6) yarn. My absolute FAVORITE brand of plushy yarn is Premier Parfait Chunky. It’s a dream to crochet with compared to other bulky yarns, and it makes the absolute softest plushies!

And there you have it! Your plushy is ready!

I love to buy buttons from antique shops. You can usually find huge jars full of them for pennies on the dollar, and you end up with such a variety of colors and sizes! These random buttons just add an extra touch of character to your stuffies.

Candy Corn Poppet Fun Fact:

Legend says these cheerful little poppets quietly guard candy bowls while everyone sleeps. If no one is looking they’ll secretly swap the last handful of candy corn for a little extra Halloween luck — because every spooky season deserves one final sweet surprise.

Keychain Version

This candy corn also makes an adorable keychain version!

To make the keychain version, follow the above instructions but make the following changes:

*Instead of worsted weight yarn, use fingering weight (#2) yarn and a 2 mm hook.

*Attach a keyring to the top of your candy corn keychain.

And that’s it! Your candy corn keychain is complete!
