Crochet Gnomes

The more I see various crochet gnome patterns on the web, the more I fall in love with them. They are all so unique and so dang adorable! That being said, this Crochet Gnome Tutorial by Back to Eden Crochet is a must-make for the upcoming fall season. The bulky, plushy yarn means these guys will work up quickly, and you’ll have these charming, mischievous gnomes to decorate with in no time!

Watch the YouTube video tutorial here.

Choosing the right yarn for your project can be a daunting task, especially with so many options out there to choose from. Bulky, chunky yarns can be used for blankets, scarves, cowls, etc, or for anything you want to give some extra bulk and warmth to. However, a nice, soft cotton or worsted weight yarn works for pretty much everything as well, so don’t shy away from these if you prefer to work with this kind of yarn. I sure do!

Also, don’t be afraid to mix and match from your current yarn stash. While I do love shopping for yarn for a new project, it can also be quite satisfying to craft something with yarn you already have lying around. Plus, if your stash runs out, it just means you need more yarn again and get to go shopping for it! Win-win.

Each designer of these beautiful patterns also listed the type of yarn they use in their instructions. I have listed the links for them below for easier browsing. Take a look through the various types of yarns and colors below, and see what sparks some inspiration!

Cozy Wool Yarn by Loops & Threads

Bernat Softee Chunky Solids (Super Bulky)

Brava Worsted Yarn

Mary Maxin Starlette Worsted Weight Yarn

Simple Alpaca by Knit Picks

Cascade Yarns

Wander Yarn

Paintbox Yarns

Stylecraft Special Aran

Premier Puzzle Yarn

And that’s our roundup of fall crochet patterns for the week! I hope these amazing patterns from all of these talented crochet pattern designers have inspired you to get your hook and get crafting for the fall season! I’m already dreaming of pumpkin spice…

  • Acrylic yarn is softer and may fray or show wear faster and easier.

You should also consider using a smaller/thinner weighted yarn and smaller hook to create even smaller versions of each bag charm. Adorable!

2. Low-Sew Squirtle Pattern

Within the same anime universe as the Boba Baby, we have this super cute pattern for Squirtle! Low-sew patterns always catch my attention, and I always appreciate the time a pattern designer takes to figure out how to make this part easier for the rest of us crocheters. It’s such a game changer!

Squirtle is one of the original three starter Pokemon from the original Pokemon games, and it has remained a beloved Pokemon character throughout the franchise. Now, you can create your very own!

I love that this pattern by 53 Stitches has a material list for both the small Squirtle and the larger, plushy Squirtle as well. This pattern also includes lots of pictures for each step, which is super helpful for both new and experienced crocheters alike.

3. Pikachub (Pikachu)

Last, but certainly not least, in the Pokemon universe is this Pikachub crochet pattern by Curious Papaya. Pikachu was my favorite character once upon a time, and I love this pattern! You can create your very own whimsical mystery solver by purchasing Eleira’s pattern here!

5. Mikasa Ackerman From Attack on Titan

Now, for my favorite character from my favorite anime: Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan! She’s such a strong female character with unwavering loyalty and amazing combat skills.

7. P-Chan From Ranma 1/2

Or, why not create the adorable pig form of Ryoga Hibiki as P-Chan from Ranma 1/2? You’re sure to want to give this guy as many cuddles as Akane Tendo gives him in the anime! 6. Crochet Sensory Book

Speaking of sensory play for babies, how much fun would it be to create this Crochet Sensory Book by Winding Road Crochet? With all the various crochet stitches out there, there seems to be an unlimited combination of textures, colors, and ideas to keep baby’s mind engaged. I love the creativity that went into designing this!

Each page of the book is a swatch of different stitches, and it’s even all buttoned up and decorated to look like a book. I can’t get enough!

7. Educational Baby Ball

I love how intricate and beautiful this Educational Baby Ball by Patricia Heller looks. Not only would it be a soft and fun toy for baby to play with, but it’s educational too! What a unique, fun, and cute way to teach your baby different animals. This one should definitely be added to your list of crochet projects for baby!

8. Farm Animal Finger Puppet Playset

Now, this Farm Animal Finger Puppet Playset by 5 Little Monsters is a must-make! The tiny farm animal puppets are so cute, and the drawstring bag made to look like a barn to keep them in is my favorite! This one would be great for carrying in your purse or diaper bag to entertain the little ones while you’re out and about.

9. Farm Animals in a Barn

Or, why not crochet your baby an entire farm, complete with a white picket fence and everything? This pattern by Laura Sutcliffe on Annie’s Attic includes crochet instructions to make a horse, cow, pig, sheep, a hen and her nest, hay bales, food troughs, a pasture with a fence, and a whole dang barn to put it all in!

Such a fun, unique design, and it’s sure to keep the little ones entertained for hours. I have a nephew currently obsessed with all things farm animals, so this may just be his Christmas present this year!

10. Fishing Game Kid’s Toy

This one is probably more suited toward older toddlers, but it’s just too cute to not include here. This Fishing Game by Alli Crafts is so unique and absolutely adorable. Each little fish has a magnet inside them, and so does the crochet fishing hook. Little ones will have so much fun “catching” each fish! The pattern designer says this can be a great toy to teach colors and counting. And, when finished, the entire “pond” can be cinched up into a bag to hold all the pieces. What a great idea!
