Hottest Crochet Trends of 2024

Trend #1: Thick, Chunky, Cozy Blankets!

1. Cozy Farmhouse Blanket

With bold patterns and chunky stitches on crocheters’ minds in 2024, first in the lineup is this cozy farmhouse blanket by Spotted Horse Design Co! This pattern uses the falling leaves crochet stitch, and the designer says the stitch is easy to learn and creates a visually stunning effect that will make this blanket not only a warm and snuggly addition to your home, but a beautiful one too.

2. Waffle Stitch Blanket With Fringe

One of the first blankets I ever made was crocheted with the waffle stitch. It is an easy-to-learn stitch, and it adds so much depth and bulk to your blanket, making for a very toasty cuddling companion. The fringe detail on this blanket adds an extra touch of comfort and gives the blanket a professional finish. This beautiful throw is sure to be a winner, whether you intend it as a gift or to keep it for yourself!

3. Super Bulky Crochet Throw

Next up for your crochet project list, this super cute, super bulky crochet throw using super bulky yarn! This blanket is beginner friendly and works up very quickly, making it a perfect gift idea. This blanket is crocheted with Bernat Blanket Big yarn and a 25mm hook! Dang! The designer says this blanket can also be crocheted using your fingers, but that might have to be an attempt for another day for me!

Trend #2: Oversized, Textured Shawls!

1. Luxe Oversized Shrug

Along the same lines as chunky blankets, thick, chunky shawls and wraps were also trending last year. This Luxe Oversized Shrug by Crystal Bear Designs just looks so cozy I want to get my crochet hook out right now! I can just envision cuddling up in this beautiful shrug with a steaming hot cup of coffee on a cold winter morning.

2. Chunky Blanket Wrap

This free chunky blanket wrap by KKAME includes a combination of stitches to create a beautiful, chunky, and cozy shawl. Because of the stitches and the use of bulky yarn, this beautiful wrap can be made in a day for any of you speedier crocheters. There are very few things on this earth that feel cozier than an oversized sweater, and this one is no exception!

Trend #4: Miniature Crochet Foods!

One of the big trends of 2024 was crocheting miniature foods, such as this adorable cupcake pattern by Little Crochet Farm. The cute little embroidered face adds such a sweetness to this pattern, as well as the cherry on top! Any pattern that boasts a no-sew pattern grabs my attention as well. It’s so nice to not have attach the smaller pieces separately!

2. Tiny Taco Keychain

Why not add to your miniature foods collection with this tiny taco keychain by Repeat Crafter Me? It’s adorable, and the best part is it can be worked up in about ten minutes, making this a fun and easy last minute gift idea. Need something to make with all that scrap yarn? This pattern would be perfect to use up those leftover balls of yarn.

I also love that it’s a key chain! Wouldn’t it be cute to hang from a crocheted bag?

This cute crocheted chick phone case would make an adorable Easter gift. The chick applique finish is just so sweet! Statement crochet jewelry pieces also made the list of trends in 2024, and I can see why! These Crochet Flower Medallion Earrings by Fiber Flux are cute, bold, and unique! This Margo Bracelet by Hilaria Fina is one of the most beautiful crochet jewelry pieces I’ve ever seen! The use of studs in the center of each flower just gives it a sweet and elegant finish.
